Domestic Abuse Perpetrators

This project will inform a shared understanding of ‘what works’ in reducing reoffending in Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) perpetrators, identifying services currently provided and informing areas for further development. It will champion the development of minimum standards for VAWDASV perpetrator services and consider the role of preventative and early intervention approaches to reduce risk.

Domestic Abuse is a significant problem for the lives of those it affects and challenging for the public agencies who respond to it. Unfortunately, the ripple effects of Domestic Abuse are far reaching, impacting on the health and well-being of victims and their families.

The project will support the priorities of the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015. The Act addresses domestic abuse and sexual violence perpetrated against all people in Wales, irrespective of gender or sexual orientation. The project will therefore explore the ‘perpetrator journey’, providing guidance and advice to enable organisations to identify early opportunities to prevent VAWDASV behaviour from developing and/or escalating.
